The Line Training offers three types of assessments. Hitting. Pitching and Catching.
Once complete, the results are compiled and emailed to the player (HitTrax only, Rapsodo results must be access by the player through the Rapsodo app.) We allow time at the end to review the session and point out any trends (both positive and negative) that we see as well as explain some of the data that's been captured.
College coaches utilize advanced metrics and assessment reports to better evaluate player performance. By reviewing large sample sets, coaches get a true sense of a player’s abilities and can recognize their full potential. Think of it in terms of academics: College admissions assess a student based on GPA, SAT, and ACT scores to qualify them as a candidate for their schools. College coaches use our TLT assessment data from HitTrax and Rapsodo to gauge a student athlete as a potential recruit for their team.
Players are also able to leverage the same metrics and reports to set themselves apart from peers and gain the attention of college programs and recruiters. By providing quantitative data, players can demonstrate their value and get noticed.
If you are a student-athlete striving to play college softball then it is inevitable you will be asked to provide an analytic assessment. Get ahead of the recruiting game and get assessed today! This also will give you a baseline of where you are and the potential on where you can be with dedicated drills to get better.
Our hitting data (below) is provided by the Rapsodo and HitTrax. Below is a table showing the 3 most-used measurements in softball and baseball.

In the world of sports-technology there is a brand new set of statistics that we have to pay attention to. We realize the stats may be new to you, so we've put together some information about these stats including some links to sites that may explain them in further detail.
Exit Velocity ("EV" or "Velo") | Exit Velocity measures the speed of the baseball as it comes off the bat. Click here for more detailed information. |
Launch Angle ("LA") | Launch Angle represents the vertical angle at which the ball leaves a player's bat after being struck. Click here for more detailed information |
Distance ("Dist") | The distance in feet the ball is projected to have traveled. |
Result ("Res") |
The result of the batted ball.
If the result was a hit, then you'll see a "1B", "2B", "3B" or "4B" followed by a location. Example, "1B-8" means it was a single to centerfield Example, "3B-7" means it was a triple to leftfield If the result was a a groundout, then you'll see two numbers, where the ball was hit to and where they threw it to Example, "6-3" means it was a ground ball to shortstop who threw to firstbase for an out. If the result was a flyout, then you'll see "F" followed by the position that caught the ball. Example, "F8" means it was a flyout to centerfield If the result was a lineout, then you'll see "L" followed by the position that caught the ball. Example, "L4" means it was a lineout to the second baseman |
Type |
What type of batted-ball was it? On the ground? Flyball? Line drive?
Values: GB = Ground ball FB = Fly ball LD = Line drive |
HHA | Hard-hit Average. HitTrax will track your hardest hit ball and your “HHA” are all balls hit within 10% of your peak exit speed. For example, if your hardest hit ball is 90 mph, any ball hit at least 81 mph will be counted toward your HHA. |
LD % GB % FB % |
LD% = Line drive percentage
GB % = Ground ball percentage FB % = Fly ball percentage |
LPH | Line Drives Plus Hard-hits. Sum of the hitter's Line drive % + Hard-hit Average |
Our primary analysis tool for hitting and catching analysis is HitTrax. While HitTrax does support analysis of pitching it doesn't provide the level of detail that Rapsodo does. When a complete player assessment is done for a pitcher, it will involve both HitTrax and Rapsodo.
If you've had a pitching assessment with TLT then you really should download and log into the Rapsodo app. The information, graphs, charts, data, summaries are amazing.
In order for a player to view their results, they will need to access their an account at HitTrax.com. Prior to the player's assessment an account is created for them at HitTrax. Once the account has been created the player can login and see all of their activity, including sessions, graphs, analysis and more.
If you've had a hitting or catching assessment through TLT, you should log into the HitTrax app. It allows for an easy way to track your progress, view your hitting/catching/pitching sessions and view well-thought out charts, graphs and summaries.
If you have any questions or comments please reach out to us at help@TheLineTraining.com
If you (or your child) recently completed an assessment and you did not get your assessment emailed to you, please check your spam/junk mail folder. If you still don't see it, please reach out to us. It is possible that the email address may have been entered incorrectly.
